Family Pets
What kind of pet if any does your family have? Many of us these days have a cat or a dog for familypets. Pets are very popular especially if you have children. Perhaps you own a horse and farm where you are able to ride in a large pasture, or maybe you are a snake enthusiast and like to take them anywhere and everywhere with you. Whatever your preference, pets are for people, and research has shown them to be a stress reliever.
Some people breed pets for a living which can be very rewarding, and if you or your family make the decision to purchase one by a reputable breeder, these pets can cost a lot yet be worth just as much providing they are in great health and have papers. Then there are the so called “mutts” that can be adopted through your local animal shelter whom are just as cute and well behaved as a purebred. There are breeds of pets that are best and suitable to be around children and then there are pets that should never be around kids, let alone adults since some are bred to fight to kill and can be very dangerous. Some owners enter their pets into contests to be judged the best. Birds can make fun familypets if you don’t mind with the babbling and talking to much, and their cages can be very messy from all the shredding they like to do, but if taught to talk they can be just as much fun.
However, as much enjoyment and fun our family pets give us, they can also be very expensive; their veterinarian bill alone can run into hundreds if not thousands of dollars if they become sick. They may need x-rays, blood work, or even medicine to help them get better, and they also need yearly vaccinations to keep them healthy. Keeping that in mind, owning a pet can be very rewarding for both you and the animal.
